Professional Summary
As a Machine Learning scientist , my research aims to contribute to the area of computer vision for handwriting forensics. My goal is to discover deep learning techniques for building explainable representation to solve handwritten text analysis applications such as paragraph/line/word segmentation, handwritten text recognition, handwritten text writer identification and verification. Following are the three core areas of Computer Vision that my research is contributing to:
Continual Learning – Building a network capable of sequentially learning multiple handwriting analysis tasks without forgetting the previous task. Built a network capable of performing Handwritten Text Identification/Verification (HTI/HTV) Task by protecting the performance from Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) and paragraph/line/word segmentation task. This is done by consolidating the parameters for HTI/HTV task to stay in a region of low error for HTR and segmentation tasks. (Submitting Paper in ICML ’21)
Self-Supervised Learning – Build a network capable of learning representation without the need of labeled data. My research uses contrastive methods to discriminate between handwritten text samples and build vantage profiles for each writer without explicit the need of explicit writer information (ICFHR ’18 and ’20)
Explainable AI - Build a network to give explainable answers for model predictions. My research uses a differentiable system followed by an inference module which helps provide explanations for the task of handwriting verification (BMVC ’19)
